Dr. Kofi Amoah, Chairman for Ghana's Normalisation Committee has told the media that the committee has declined a request from Medeama to represent Ghana in next year’s Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) champions’ league competition.
Medeama last week wrote to the Normalization Committee requesting that they are given the chance to represent the powerful West African Nation (Ghana) in Africa's elite inter-club competition.
Medeama in their letter stated that since they were the league leaders prior to the abrupt end of the league, they should be given the chance to represent Ghana in Africa.
Speaking to the media Monday morning, the chairman of the Normalisation Committee Dr. Kofi Amoah said they have declined Medeama's request to participate in the CAF Champions League.
“I have spoken to Medeama management this morning about their request to play in Africa. Unfortunately their request cannot be granted. If they had written to us on the basis of an appeal, it could have been considered," he told Asempa FM.
Dr. Amoah further argued that Asante kotoko’s application was backed by Law hence their approval but Medeama’s request was not legitimate.
"Kotoko quoted statues and we cannot overlook statutes but Medeama did not back their request with any statutes".
